Penny Arcade Ep. 2 Trailers Pull Life-threatening Levers

In honor of next week’s release of the second entry in the Penny Arcade Adventures series, developer and publisher Hothead has released three new trailers showing off some gameplay and cinematics from the RPG.

At 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 2 lands on Xbox Live on Wednesday, October 29 alongside PC, Mac and Linux versions on the Greenhouse digital distribution service. A PlayStation 3 version will follow later this year.

Sacred 2 Hits PC November 11, Consoles Feb. 17

Atari has announced that it will distribute Ascaron Entertainment’s Sacred 2: Fallen Angel in North America, with the PC version slated to arrive on November 11, followed by PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 iterations on February 17, 2009.

The oft-delayed multiplayer-oriented action-RPG was originally slated to hit retailers in early 2008, but was later delayed into September so that the team could “realize all the development plans.” Both the console and PC releases will sport online co-op, with the console versions also packing offline two-player co-op.

Mortal Kombat 2 PS3 Pulled from PlayStation Store, Sony ‘Working Diligently’ to Fix Firmware Issue

Midway’s cult-classic fighter Mortal Kombat II was one of the top-selling downloadable games in the PlayStation 3’s online store, that is, until it mysteriously disappeared in the wake of last week’s PlayStation 3 v2.50 firmware update.

Study: Gamers Have More Dates, Fun than Non-Gamers

The numbers now show that gamers are generally more social than non-gamers–according to a survey commissioned by IGN, anyway.

Gamasutra spotted the report from a 3,000-respondent survey conducted by researchers at Ipsos, in which single gamers were twice as likely as non-gamers to go out on a date. Gamers were also by a slight margin more likely to be non-romantically social by going out or playing sports.

Gaming households on average had substantially more money than non-gaming households: $79,000 in annual income against $54,000. Within those households, gamers tended to be the cultural influence: 37% of gamers reported informing their family and friends on pop culture and technology, whereas only 22% of non-gamers filled the same role….
